scranton welcomeThe City of Scranton recently received a grant to help improve existing homes.

The City partnered with the Region XII Council of Governments and was approved for a Community Development Block Grant Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation program. City Clerk Melinda Hinners tells Raccoon Valley Radio the City Council approved three houses for the program. The homes are located at: 804 Main Street, 1008 Grant Street and 705 Madison Street. The Council approved four homes for the program and are looking for one more. Anyone interested may contact Region XII for an application.

The City will match up to $2,000 per home for a total of $8,000 toward the program. Hinners says a property-owner meeting will take place in mid-February with Region XII, who is the administrator of the program, with the projects to be done later this year.
