BRR Ride 2018

Tomorrow is the 41st annual Bike Ride to Rippey (BRR Ride), and organizers are looking forward to a huge event.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce hosts the ride, and Chamber Board member Lee Coons says they’ve had many people register well ahead of time. He also says a lot of people have been closely watching the weather forecast before committing to the ride. However, he believes there will be a big turnout, thanks to what he considers ideal BRR weather. “It looks like around 8 a.m. there’s about a 40% chance (of snow). I haven’t heard an amount or anything yet, but we could see a few snowflakes. Which it’s always kind of nice to see that, really. And 35 degrees is very doable, so it should be a nice day.”

Even if there is snow, Coons emphasizes that BRR is a relatively easy ride, and people of all different riding abilities can take part without fear. “We have support services out there on the route. So you know, if somebody only wants to ride out to the hot chocolate stand, and that’s as far as they can make it and they need a ride back, we got people that’ll bring you back. So you’ll see riders of all levels.”

Registration will start tomorrow at 7 a.m. at Hotel Pattee, and Coons reminds people to take part in the Lions Club breakfast at 7:30. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be at the event, broadcasting live, relaying important announcements, and playing music in front of Soumas Court.
