Last weekend Large Group speech in Iowa came to an end with the All-State Festival at Iowa State University. The end of Large Group Speech means the beginning of Individual Events, which starts today with district competitions. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Panorama, and West Central Valley will all make the trek to Boone High School, the host for this year’s Southwest District competition.

Students will compete in a variety of categories, ranging from poetry and prose to radio news broadcasting and public address. To advance to the state competition, students must receive a “I” rating from the judge. This year’s state competition is at Nevada High School on Saturday, March 10th. While spectating at the event is free, a $3 donation is encouraged.
