ADM Tigers

The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls and boys track teams split up late last week to compete in a pair of early season nonscored outdoor track meets. The Tiger girls track team visited Grimes Thursday for the DCG Early Bird Invite and the ADM boys began their outdoor season in the Winterset Husky Invitational Friday. Both ADM track teams took first place in multiple events.

The ADM girls track team won eight total events, five relays, and three individual running events. The Tigers gathered first-place finishes from Keaton Kester in the 100-meter dash (12.54 seconds), Sami Schepers in the 100-meter hurdles (16.60 seconds), and Sadie Jurgens in the 400-meter dash (1:04.78). The Tigers placed first in the following relays: 4×100 (52.94 seconds), 4×200 (1:53.59), 4×400 (4:35.37), shuttle hurdle (1:15.06), and the sprint medley (1:55.33).

The ADM boys track team registered first-place finishes in three events, two relays, and one hurdles race. Junior Lucas Heitz came away with the Tigers only individual first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a quarter-mile in 57.62. The other top finishes came from the Tigers 4×400 and the distance medley. The 4×400 meter crew of Tate Stine-Smith, Rylan Heffernan, Gustavs Klavis and Trey Volz clocked a winning time of 3:39.40. The distance medley team of Volz, Heitz, Colton Pirtle, and Heffernan crossed the finish line first with a mark of 3:48.91.

Both ADM track teams will compete in Adel tomorrow in the annual Hugh Norman Co-Ed Relays. The meet features athletes from Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle Community Schools, Clarke, Dallas Center-Grimes HS, Nevada, Van Meter, and Winterset. First events start at 4:30 p.m. at ADM Stadium.
