The federal tax cut bill that was passed by Congress and signed by President Donald Trump, is starting to see some effect locally.
Across the country, US Representative Steve King says the results are good, with the country averaging a two-percent growth in the country’s Growth Domestic Product (GDP), but he wants to see that be even higher.
“Even still the growth isn’t what I thought it would be by now. I thought optimism would jump-start this economy, (but) it looks like it’s going to take the effect of the tax cuts, the effect of the regulatory relief that we’re providing to get this economy going the right way.”
Locally, 14 Hamilton Redi-Mix employees, some in Jefferson, will receive $1,500, payable over three installments, all due to the Trump Tax Plan. When the federal government cut back on taxes starting this year, many Fortune 500 companies announced they would be giving employees bonuses. Hamilton Redi-Mix was one such business that wanted to give back to their business and employees in hopes of improving the local economy.
