Coach Heath Telleen’s Greene County girls’ golf team was second to Gilbert on Wednesday at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference 18 hole tournament at Jefferson Community Golf Course. The coach said he was really proud of the girls and of their scores as they shattered the team low shot just a week ago.
The Tigers shot 336 and were led by Britta Snyder, one of Iowa’s best, with a four under par 68. Greene County shot 390 and was led by two-time State qualifier Rachael Danielson, the tournament runner-up medalist at 82. PCM (Monroe) was third at 392, with South Hamilton (Jewell) at 399, Roland-Story (Story City) 401, and both Nevada and North Polk (Alleman) shot 431. Saydel (Des Moines) did not field a team.
Ellie Madson of the Rams shot 91, a career best round and finished in seventh place. Serenity Blair was next for the Rams at 104, and Mariah Block was at 113.
“All the girls played well today and are excited to see what we can do in the postseason. Special thanks to Micah and Dave Destival for helping us set up for a meet in Jefferson on such short notice. The course was in great shape!” said Coach Telleen. JCGC was not scheduled to host, but the original course was undergoing construction and the site was switched to Jefferson with just two days notice.
