Rachael Danielson of Jefferson, the most successful female golfer in the history of a program that goes back to the early 1960’s, yesterday officially announced she would be attending Central College in Pella in the fall and joining the women’s golf team. Danielson, a Greene County senior, has already played in two Class 3A State tournaments, placing eighteenth as a sophomore and sixth as a junior. She’s also the 2018 runner-up medalist in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, and she and her teammates open the 2A tournament trail with a May 14 Regional Tournament at Ida Grove.

Danielson talked to Raccoon Valley Radio about why Central. “It really felt like home. The coach is really nice and I can totally get along with him for four years. The girls are extremely nice. They’ve got a good program with good facilities. I’m ready to get there and win a conference championship.” Danielson has had great success on the golf course despite repeated knee surgeries. She’s limited her rounds played this year, both in practice and competition, as to give the knee rest time.

She wants to pursue a career in medicine and is looking at going into Pre-Med or Biology, and even mentioned the possibility of a psychology minor. Rachael is the daughter of John and Barb Danielson.
