The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) is a little more than three months away and plans are already coming together for one overnight host town.
Jefferson RAGBRAI is looking for more people to apply to be a host for registered RAGBRAI participants. Executive Co-Chair Toni Wetrich says they’ve had 139 requests for hosts since May 1st. All requests are from official, registered RAGBRAI participants, so Wetrich points out that if you want to be a host, you can fill out an application, which also has an area where the host can have specific details of the kinds of people they would like to host. Plus, if an agreement has already been reached between bikers and a local host, to still contact the committee.
“If you take anybody in your home or your yard that is not registered for the RAGBRAI, then you are liable, your own homeowner’s insurance is liable and RAGBRAI is not for those people. So that’s an important thing (to know) as you are getting calls from those people.”
Those who are hosts can then be added to a master list so that when RAGBRAI participants come into town, Wetrich says they can direct people where to go to stay for the overnight stop. For a copy of the housing application, click the link below.
