New Perry City Council

The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to a presentation by Greg Edwards from “Catch Des Moines.” Edwards gave his annual presentation on how the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, which Perry is a member of, has done the last year and the outlook for the next year. Following that, the Council approved a resolution setting the salaries for City employees for the 2019 fiscal year. City Administrator Sven Peterson said the salaries presented reflected the 3% raises recently negotiated with two separate unions, as well as regular raises for all other salaried employees.

Also in old business, the Council approved several items relating to current and recent City projects, including: the final acceptance and certificate of completion for No Lawn Left Behind regarding work completed on the soccer complex, as well as a pay request of $851.19 for the release of retainage; a pay request of $30,000 from Corell Contractors for release of retainage on the 2017 North Street construction; a pay request of $120,905.83 from EJM Pipe Service for the sanitary sewer improvement; a pay request of $22,359.90 from Landals Corporation for the Wiese Park Trail improvements; and a change order of $9,140.00 from Elder Corporation for the Willis Avenue Bridge construction.

The session concluded with the second and third readings of an amendment to the City’s solid waste control ordinance. To learn more about the Perry City Council meeting, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
