Coach Tom Kennedy watched his Greene County High School softball team go 2-1 on Saturday at the South Hamilton (Jewell) tournament on Saturday. That upped the season record to 6-16, but the fact the Rams played much better defense in those three games than the previous three when they totaled 18 errors and lost all three. may have been a sign of what the coach hopes is things to come. Greene County had four errors in a 1-0 loss to I-35 (Truro), and just one error each in 5-0 and 11-5 victories over Southeast Valley (Cowrie) and Iowa Falls-Alden, respectively.
Starting pitcher Samantha Hardaway may have had her best day as well, throwing 13 innings Saturday and allowing just three earned runs.
The Rams will get back to Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play tonight in Jefferson vs. PCM (Monroe), a team the Rams defeated 10-3 in Monroe earlier this season.
