Jefferson City Council 8_14The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council heard a presentation by Wild Rose COO and President Tom Timmons on a frontage road project west of the Wild Rose Jefferson property north of Highway 30. Timmons asked the City to help pay $1.4 million to build a frontage road for access to a future truck stop that’s located just west of Wild Rose. Wild Rose sold a three-acre lot to Vaughn Bauer and Robert Drees and they would own the truck stop. The Council took no action following the presentation.

The Council approved Greene County Development Corporation’s quarterly funding request, a resolution to apply for a $75,000 Recreation and Enhancement Protection (REAP) grant for a walking/bike path as part of the East Lincoln Way Corridor Vision Plan, as recommended by Region XII Council of Governments. Additionally, the Council approved a plat of survey for R4K (Hoyt Law Firm) to sell a parcel to Edward and Marcia Calvert, and releasing the final $10,944 of retainage to Godberson-Smith for their contract for the Lincoln Ridge Estates Deer Run road project.

The Council also approved to purchase a greens mower and a part for a sprayer for $31,000 for the Jefferson Community Golf Course and extended City Administrator Mike Palmer’s contract to another year through 2019 at a salary of $97,400. Mayor Craig Berry noted that Palmer had an outstanding review.

During open forum, resident Phyllis Crowder asked for an update on the feral cat situation. Berry told her that the Chief of Police was looking into the Trap Neuter and Release program and that he would be in charge of it.
