Greene County opens the 2018 high school cross-country season tomorrow at the Gilbert Invitational, held in Ames on the Iowa State University course. Paton-Churdan had its own cross-country program for some years, but now shares with Greene County. P-C senior Jack Bryson said he’s happy about the arrangement. “I thought it was a great idea because it’s nice to actually run with a team. Back at P-C, it was just three runners and we were sort of on our own. Now, having a team aspect, I feel has made me better as an athlete, and being part of a team is a wonderful feeling!”
The Gilbert meet is a large coed meet with 26 programs expected to compete. Jeff Lamoureux is in his second season heading the Greene County high school cross-country teams.
