A familiar face at Greene County Medical Center recently took over as the new Administrator at UnityPoint Clinic-Greene County Family Medicine.
Shannon Black is a Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate and has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management from Walden University. She was first employed with the medical center in 2009 as the registration supervisor and patient financial advocate. Then in 2015, Black became the director of materials management, a job she held up until now. She explains why she wanted to be the new Administrator of UnityPoint Clinic.
“This opportunity was just a good fit for me (and) my education background. I care a lot about rural healthcare access. So this was just I guess kind of a next step that made sense to me.”
She talks about some of her plans moving forward with the new job.
“I think my goals for the clinic are just to continue to grow. We brought on another new provider this year, Diana Smith, and so we are growing her practice. We just want to continue to be able to be available for the patients of Greene County and just continue to provide care for them as best we can.”
Black handles the day-to-day operations, as well as all of the hirings, supply purchases, budgets and vaccinations of the clinic.
