Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Greene County cross-country teams completed the 2018 season on Thursday in a Class 2A Coed State Qualifying Meet on the Par Three Golf Course at Lake Panorama. The top three girls and boys teams and the top 15 girls and boys individuals qualified for State competition on Oct. 27 at Kennedy Park north of Ft. Dodge. No Greene County runners qualified.

The Coach told Raccoon Valley Radio he was proud of every single runner for the Rams. “They all gave everything they had and that’s all you can ask. These kids improved so much throughout the season, and most of them saw big time drops from when we ran this course during the regular season.”

Sophomore Conner Allender led Greene County’s girls by finishing 29th in 23:43.75 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Junior Ashlee Harmeyer was 31st in 23:59.45, followed by junior Kassie Lamoureux in 42nd in 24:26.16, sophomore Makala Kafer 43rd in 24:35.38, and junior Izzy Bravard 54th in 25:20.29.

Panorama won the girls’ team title with 55 points, followed by Shenandoah 102, and Albia 122. Chariton had 127, with Roland-Story (Story City) 129, Treynor 148, Pleasantville 165, Greene County 185, Colfax-Mingo 210, Red Oak 216, Central Decatur (Leon) 230, and Van Meter 303.

The boys’ team title went to R-S with 57 points, followed by Des Moines Christian 75, and Albia 76. Red Oak had 111, Treynor 115, Shenandoah 183, Clarinda 205, Chariton 243, C-M 247, VM 267, Greene County 272, Panorama 281, Underwood 368, Pleasantville 406, CD 451.

Leading the Greene County boys was freshman Logan Woodruff in 40th place with a time of 19:42.00. Sophomore Connor Brus was 51st in 20:08.27, followed by senior Jack Bryson 55 in 20:21.50, sophomore Luis Velazco 57th in 20:31.33, and junior Trevor Lebeck 69th in 20:59.02.
