Underclassmen at Adel-Desoto-Minburn and Perry Community Schools qualified for the Class 3A State Cross Country meet with a top 15 finish in yesterday’s qualifying race in Glenwood. ADM has three sophomores punch their ticket to state, two boys and one girl. Nate Mueller highlighted the Tiger finishers with a second place result at 16:29. Ethan Jurgens placed two spots below Mueller with a time of 16:48. Hannah Welch is a first-time state qualifier for ADM after a 12th place outcome at 20:47. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network had a phone conversation last night with ADM head cross country coach David Zwank. He was pleased with all his runners yesterday. “We’re proud of what those three kids did thats for sure but were also proud of everybody else that ran today,” Zwank said, “One hundred percent quality efforts, I think for some there’s probably some sting. I think they would’ve like to have seen some better results, especially on the boys side.”
The ADM boys cross country team, a state qualifier in 2017, was one place short of returning to Fort Dodge with a fourth-place finish at 112 points. Freshman Jaylene Karolus will represent the Perry Bluejays squad in the Class 3A individual meet with a 10th place finish last night at 20:44. The foursome will each run next Saturday, October 27 at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge. The Class 3A girls race runs at noon and the boys will follow at 12:30 p.m.
