The deadline for those wishing to place a veteran’s name on the Guthrie County Veterans Memorial Wall is fast approaching. The cost is $30 to submit a name by November 1st, and afterwards the price will increase to $60. The Veterans Memorial Committee are erecting eight black granite walls on the courthouse lawn in Guthrie Center to honor area veterans of all ages and branches of service. The cement slab to hold the walls was installed this fall.
Applications are available on the Johnson Family Funeral Home website and can be found at the Iowa Savings Bank and the News Gazette in Bayard, Rolling Hills Bank in Casey, ToJo’s Bar and Grill in Jamaica, Guthrie County State Bank, the Guthrie County Courthouse, Peoples Bank in Guthrie Center, the Menlo Cafe, Ben’s Five and Dime, Guthrie County State Bank, Panora State Bank in Panora, First State Bank and Rolling Hills Bank in Stuart, and Farmers State Bank in Yale.
