Guthrie County Public Health is encouraging residents to show their Guthrie County pride with a fundraiser for their Babies Nest program.
Public Health is selling short sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts that say “Guthrie County: Growing Great Futures.” All of the proceeds will be going to Babies Nest, an incentive program that provides parents with items including diapers, wipes, strollers, pacifiers, bottles, and more. Public Health Director Jotham Arber says Babies Nest is one of the county’s most impactful programs, “The program itself is not based on income eligibility or your experience with having babies. What we want to do is provide a place that allows mothers, regardless of their age or race or anything like that, to access some resources that will help them start off their child’s life correctly.”
The program is open to expectant mothers in the county. Public Health also offers the Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success, or HOPES program to aid parents with children older than one year old. Short-sleeved t-shirts cost $10, long-sleeved t-shirts are $15, and sweatshirts are $20. Public Health will be accepting purchases through November 19th. To order a shirt, call the Public Health department at 641-747-3972.
