There is a considerable amount of snow on the ground throughout our listening area today, though it’s heaviest in Adair County.
As a result, that county and several neighboring are currently under a blizzard warning until midnight tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, Dallas and Guthrie counties are no longer under a winter weather advisory, and Greene hasn’t been under an advisory all day. Snowfall accumulation for the three counties is expected to be one-inch or less. Adair County, however, could reach as much as 12-inches in some parts, though most of the county should see between four and eight-inches of snowfall today. Additional hazards include strong winds, blowing or drifting snow, and low visibility.
At the moment, snow plows are operating throughout the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, and the roads in Dallas and Greene counties are considered under seasonal conditions. Those in Guthrie County are partially covered with ice, and throughout Adair County the roads are completely covered in snow. Snow ordinances are also in effect for the majority of cities in each county. Keep listening to Raccoon Valley Radio for Severe Weather Action Team coverage, as we keep you updated on road conditions, cancellation and delay information, and snowfall accumulation for today, and through the winter season.
