There were few bright spots last Tuesday for the West Central Valley Wildcats varsity girls basketball team. The play of Wildcat senior Joelle Grubbs was among the positives from last week’s 58-34 loss to the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. Grubbs led West Central Valley with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals versus Nodaway Valley. West Central Valley head girls basketball coach Drew Stonewall was very complimentary of his seniors opening game performance on last night’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. “She’s really taken a step up this year,” Stonewall said, “Her leadership has been fantastic, she works so hard, plays so hard. I’ve been impressed with her so far.”

West Central Valley is idle today as the Wildcats prepare for a pair of games at the end of this week. The Wildcats open their West Central Activities Conference season Friday in Boone County against the Ogden Bulldogs. West Central Valley turns around and hosts Ankeny Christian Academy in their home opener Saturday afternoon.
