acgcThe ACGC boys basketball team will get their season started this Friday as they host the Madrid Tigers (1-0) in a West Central Activities Conference matchup.

First-year head coach Lance Kading emphasized playing team basketball and footwork as two things in particular the gold and black will be working on leading up to the Friday’s contest. Kading will likely go with the starting lineup he used in last week’s jamboree at Exira-EHK, which included seniors Noah Nelsen and Noah Sargent, juniors Quynton Younker and Bryce Littler, and sophomore Lucas Marsh.

The Chargers will have to been disciplined defensively as they welcome one of the conference’s leading scorers last season in Madrid junior Braden Gibbons. Gibbons averaged nearly 20 points and seven assists in the Tigers’ two wins over ACGC last season, going 5-9 from the three-point line in Guthrie Center last year. Joining Gibbons this year are three returning senior starters: Logan Wicker, Landen Klatt, and Devin Fuson. All three joined Gibbons as four of the top five scorers last season. They opened the season with a win last night against Southeast Valley, 83-72.

Younker averaged a double-double in last year’s two tilts with the Tigers, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds the last time the two teams met in Madrid in January. You can hear the boys game live on KKRF2 and RaccoonValleyRadio.com immediately following the girls game.
