Due to the overwhelming amount of rain last week, the City of Jefferson will continue this week to pick up flood damaged items for free on regular garbage routes.

City Administrator Mike Palmer says items that are accepted are floor coverings, furniture, clothes and paper goods.

Palmer states that any construction equipment will not be picked up.  He describes the process that residents can do for those types of items.

“Construction debris such as drywall and 2×4’s, we ask that you call City Hall and make arrangements and we’ll try to get you a dumpster so we can load that up for you.  It’s easier for us to dump it and it won’t make such a mess in your yard.”
