When a town of just over 8,000 residents suddenly adds up to three times as many people overnight… things will undoubtedly run a little differently.
It will be impossible to miss the between 20,000 and 25,000 people who come to Perry during RAGBRAI next month and there are some things residents need to know.
The inside two lanes of 1st Avenue will be closed through Willis Avenue July 22nd and 23rd. Willis Avenue will also be closed from 1st Avenue to 9th Street so that cyclists can make their way to the main campground at Wiese Park.
The beverage garden and main stage where Hairball and other acts perform will be in Pattee Park. The show is all ages, with a separate section for people under the legal drinking age and those who do not wish to be in the beverage garden. Tickets to the entertainment is $5 at the gate, or free with your Perry RAGBRAI t-shirt.
Shuttle busses will also be making their way through town for riders and a variety of additional entertainment will be set up downtown as well.
