The Raccoon Valley Radio Network switched away from regular programming for wall-to-wall Severe Weather Action Team coverage late Monday morning.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were in effect for our three primary county coverage area for roughly 90 minutes, beginning around 11am.  The storm’s primary threats were heavy rain and strong winds.  Radar indicated wind gusts as strong as 70 miles per hour, while Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling says he observed 58 mile per hour winds in Perry.

Dallas, Greene and Guthrie County managed to miss the majority of the most damaging parts of the storm.

According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center received 1.4 inches of precipitation yesterday, while Perry received just under 0.4 inches and 0.1 inches fell in Jefferson.

If you see severe weather happening in your area, let us know by calling any of our three stations in Perry, Jefferson or Stuart.
