Now that everyone has had a chance to try and catch up, we’re getting an idea of how the RAGBRAI festivities went here in Perry.
Police Chief Dan Brickner says overall he was happy with the event.
“I think from a public safety standpoint it went really pretty well” says Brickner. “We obviously had the storm come through at the absolute worst time in terms of our organization and event and when we wanted the most people to be there but honestly, that aside things went very well. Really an amazing job done by a huge group of volunteers and a great organization I thought, all the way around.”
And despite the storm and more than 20,000 people in town, Brickner says there were no major incidents.
“We did have some accidents, I mean there was one with bus turning a corner and catching the edge of a car as it swung around and a couple other minor property damage things but we were very fortunate in not having any injury related accidents” says Brickner.
After being part of RAGBRAI three times now in Perry, Chief Brickner says this year was the most organized overnight stay and went the smoothest out of the three.
