The Stuart Cottage Pantry gave more assistance in the month of July than it ever had in its existence, helping a total of 365 individuals and 135 families.

And in the month of August, the pantry wasn’t too far behind with its charitable assistance.

111 families totaling 359 individuals were served last month.  This included 14 home deliveries.

140 hours of volunteer time were given by local residents to assist the pantry.

Director Marlis Beeler says the pantry is in need of many items at this time, including sugar, flour, peanut butter, spaghetti, and soap and shampoo products.  The panty has been unable to get these items at the Iowa Food Bank and could use local help.

Beeler also says that Stuart Cub and Boy Scouts are having a can drive this coming week that residents should contribute to.  Beginning tomorrow bags will be placed on all doorsteps in Stuart and picked back up Saturday, September 21st.  Pick-up that morning will begin around 9am.

If you know anyone from the local area in need, contact Beeler at 515-523-1301 or Vi Jones at 515-523-1350.
