The new year of competition began in Logan last night for the West Central Valley varsity wrestling team. The Wildcats wrestlers faced off against grapplers from Logan-Magnolia and Tri-Center in their first competition since last month’s West Central Activites Conference Tournament. West Central Valley returned to Stuart last night with a pair of competitive losses. The Wildcats tallied five pinfall victories and win by forfeit in a 38-36 setback against the Tri-Center Trojans. West Central Valley followed up with three pinfalls wins, a decision victory, and one win by forfeit in a 49-27 setback against the Logan-Magnolia Panthers. Two West Central Valley grapplers ended the evening with a pair of individual wins. Senior Carson Wadle (182) tallied a pair of first-period pinfalls while junior Weston Pote (138) registered one win by fall and another by forfeit. The West Central Valley varsity wrestling team resumes their season tomorrow at Coon Rapids-Bayard High School in the annual Crusader Invitational.
