The Stuart RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) Committee has finalized the route for bicyclists riding through town on July 22nd.

Riders will come from Menlo entering east into Stuart on White Pole Road, then they will turn south onto South Western Street, then east on South 2nd Street to Lawbaugh Park. Stuart Committee member Karen Varley explains how they came to this decision,“T.J. Juskiewicz, who’s the director of RAGBRAI, came out and spent a good (amount of) time with us. He toured the town and looked at our resources and based on his experience with how the ride flows through town, (he) recommended that we incorporate the city park, Lawbaugh Park, since it has wonderful shade. Which is important in the summertime and it’s a chance for the riders to relax and spend a little time in Stuart.”

Bicyclists will then leave town going north on Division Street to the downtown area, where Varley says they can enjoy more food vendors, beverages, and entertainment, on their way to Dexter.

The committee is seeking volunteers for the event, and they will be holding an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16th following a meeting for food vendors at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
