Don’t forget, the annual Market to Market Relay will be held tomorrow, and a large portion of it will run through Dallas County.

Because of that, Dallas County Sheriff Chief Deputy Adam Infante emphasizes the importance of staying vigilant while driving, so as not to get into an accident with participants. “Just like any other weekend, we would advise the general public to keep an extra eye for runners and bikers using the Raccoon River Trail and the roads in Dallas County. We generally don’t have any problems, but this weekend with the Market to Market, we feel like there’s going to be some extra traffic with support vehicles and people running. So please just keep your eyes open and slow down just a little bit.”

The first wave of runners will take off from Jefferson at 5:45 a.m. tomorrow, with the last runners leaving at 9:15. The route will follow the Raccoon River Valley Trail south loop through Panora and Adel, before entering the Des Moines metro trail system in Waukee. The finish line is the intersection of East 1st Street and Court Avenue, just on the east side of the Des Moines River.
