The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District will begin classes for the 2019-20 school year on Monday, August 26, and to get the teachers and staff ready the administration hosted a welcome address yesterday morning.
The event was kick started by performances from the ADM High School band and drumline, which included a sneak peak at their field show for the year. After that, Superintendent Greg Dufoe and Director of Innovative Learning and Communication Travis Wilkins presented the 12 new teachers in the District, in a program reminiscent of starting lineups for televised football games. Next, Dufoe and Wilkins honored the teachers and staff who are celebrating milestones with the District this year, ranging from 10 to 30 or more years in five-year increments. They also showed the attendees what was going on in the world at the time those individuals started their careers at ADM.
They then gave a recap of some important developments over the summer, such as the passage of the bond referendum for the new elementary building in Adel, the changes to the emergency operations plan, and updates to the staff handbook. Finally, Dufoe wrapped up the event by giving his annual address, during which he emphasized the importance of working together as a unit and embracing the school’s motto of “Win Each Day.”
