The Perry Public Library is giving patrons a break this month, as they offer a “Back to School/Back to the Library” fine forgiveness program.
Between now and the end of the month, people can visit the library and participate in a question and answer orientation activity, and receive fine amnesty for each question they answer or station they visit. Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel points out that the program will only wipe out late fees, not lost or damaged item fines. She believes the promotion will be a great way for people to learn more about the library, while also encouraging patrons to come back if they’ve stayed away because of the money they owe. “We want to make sure that everybody knows the different things we offer at the library. Whenever you ask somebody a question then they have to go look for it, and then they’ll say, ‘Oh! I didn’t even know the library offered these, or had these available!’ So it’s a good way to make sure that everybody knows all the services we have.”
The promotion will run through September 30th, and patrons can take advantage of it during any of the library’s hours of operation.
