Applications for the next competitive round of grants through the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation are now available.

GGCGC is the non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson and has awarded over $5.5 million in grants over the last five years. Applications for the competitive grants can be found at growgreenecounty.org and must be postmarked by February 1, 2020. As per their agreement with the Greene County Community Foundation, Grow Greene County will handle all competitive grants that are $35,000 and more. 

Grants that were awarded in the spring of 2019 include: Greene County Historical Museum for repairs, History Boy Theater Company for technology upgrades, a transport van for Genesis Development, playground equipment for the City of Churdan city park, Scranton Community Center, portable radios for the Jefferson Fire Department and  the Greene County Animal Facility project. The total amount awarded was $329,000. Other funds went to each municipality, the Paton-Churdan School District, a $4.5 million pledge to the Greene County School District for the new performing arts and athletic facilities, Greene County Community Foundation and the six contiguous counties.

As per GGCGC’s agreement, they receive five-percent of the adjusted gross gaming revenues from the casino. Of that total, 4.1-percent is given to projects within the county and the remaining 0.9-percent is given to the community foundations of the six contiguous counties. Additionally, GGCGC will receive ¾ of 1-percent of the adjusted sports betting revenue from the local casino. Click here to obtain a copy of the competitive grant application.
