The Dallas County Library Association is holding part two of their countywide event this weekend, with the fiction program of Dallas County Reads One Book.

Perry Public Library Director Mary says they’ve had a great deal of success over the last couple years with focusing on one fiction and one nonfiction book, and last month’s nonfiction program was well attended. The fiction selection for this year is “Marathon,” by Brian Freeman, who has recently gained notoriety for being chosen to pick up the “Bourne” franchise following the original author’s death. The event will be held Sunday at the Waukee Lutheran Church of Hope, which Murphy says is a shift from previous years.

“We decided to change up the venue this year, and also change up the day. (We’re) having it on a Sunday afternoon, rather than on a weekday night, to see what the response was. So October 20th, 2 p.m., Brian Freeman will be there ready to give us his insights. And I’ve got to say, I’ve been very impressed by all the authors that we’ve had come in for the Dallas County Reads event. So I hope you all can make it. It should be a good time!”

There is no cost to attend, and no registration is required. Freeman’s back catalogue of books, as well as “Marathon,” will be available to purchase at the event, and the author will sign any of his books.
