Deadlines are approaching this week for Guthrie County voters who wish to save hassle at the polls or avoid the polls entirely this election.
Residents wanting to preregister for the election or submit a request for a mailed absentee ballot have until 4:30 p.m. Friday to do either at the Guthrie County Auditor’s Office located in the courthouse. This year marks a change for the state as City and School Board elections have been combined into one happening on Tuesday, November 5th.
Guthrie County Deputy of Elections Dani Fink says which aspect will change most, “So the biggest change (is) with voters’ polling places. I think school voters are going to notice it more just because typically in the past they only had one location kind of to go to for each school district. So now what we’ve done is everyone’s polling places will be like (where) their general election polling places are, so when the state made this change the default for the change was actually to use general election polling places.”
Fink says you don’t have to bring any form of identification when preregistering, and people can vote absentee at the Auditor’s Office from now until November 4th. For information on election candidates and ballot measures, visit here.
