ADMADM head football coach Mike Whisner moves into this offseason saying goodbye to the largest senior class he’s ever had.

With 20 seniors departing, many of them having been major contributors to this year’s playoff team, Whisner says they’ve left big shoes to fill as he looks ahead to next season, and he’ll miss them.

“I wish them luck in their other sports that they’ve got coming up.  Many of them are multiple, at least two sport athletes.  (They’re) just a great group of kids… keep working together.  It’s awesome to have success in an individual sport–it’s pretty cool, but when you can be successful as a team such as in football and make it to the playoffs that’s big.  That’s something they’ll always remember.”

Some notable seniors that the Tigers will have to replace are Kolby Whisner, Tate Jensen and Grant Goeden.  Whisner threw for over 2,000 yards this year and finished the regular season with the second most pass yards in Class 3-A.

ADM loses big-time performers on the defensive side too.  Isaac Norton, Jesse Bennett and Darold Baker were three of the team’s top six leading tacklers, and Norton’s nine sacks on the year were good for the sixth most in the state going into the playoffs.

We’ll bring you more coverage on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network of some of these seniors in the weeks ahead as we continue to recap the football season and begin to look toward the winter sports.
