The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District has once again hired an administrator from within, as they announced the selection of current Assistant Principal Dr. Amy Hemphill for the position of Principal at DeSoto Intermediate School.

The decision comes just two weeks after the District hired current DeSoto Intermediate Principal Jodi Banse as the future principal for the new 2nd-4th grade elementary building in Adel. Hemphill is presently the assistant principal at both DeSoto Intermediate and Adel Elementary, and she will take over for Banse when the new elementary is finished for the start of the 2021-22 school year. In the interim, she will continue her current duties in the District. Hemphill has a doctorate in educational leadership from Drake University, which she obtained in 2018, and has worked at ADM for the last eight years.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe says he’s excited about the hire, pointing out that the new principal has done an excellent job as an assistant, and he believes she’s ready to take the next step. Hemphill adds, she’s honored to be chosen to be the DeSoto Principal and is excited to continue her career at ADM.
