The cast for the upcoming Greene County Community Players production of the “Sound of Music” has been released and they are still looking for positions to fill.
Director Sheila Pound says the coveted role of Maria Rainer will be played by Nicole Friess-Schilling and Captain Von Trapp will be Josh Tuel. She states that 49 children auditioned last month for the seven Von Trapp children roles.
Pound points out that she was grateful for the number of people who tried out for the classic musical.
“It’s good to see that, I think it’s a well-known musical, people love the musical and I think it was a wonderful choice by the Community Players of Greene County has decided on.”
However, she is still looking for several roles to be filled for the chorus. Interested individuals are requested to come to the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson tomorrow night at 6:30pm. She explains how that night will be handled.
“And what I will be doing is I will be going through the chorus music and once the chorus is done there, then I will let them go home and then we’ll work with the other characters as we do a read-through of the play itself.”
Pound notes that rehearsals will begin on December 16th with performances scheduled for February 21st through the 23rd.
Information will be released later about price and locations for ticket purchases.
