The Jefferson Kiwanis is wrapping up another year of service projects and wants to remind everyone of their ongoing fundraising efforts through their can and bottle donation location.
President Denny Goshon says their can and bottle redemption cage is by the Shopko Hometown location by the overpass and they collect cans and bottles all year round to go toward projects for children in the community.
He comments that they raise about $2,500 every year through cans and bottle donations and he urges everyone to help continue that effort.
“Greatly appreciate the support that people have given us in the past and hope they’ll keep us in mind and continue to do that so we can do our best to serve the needs of kids in the community.”
Projects that the Kiwanis have been involved this year include Adopt-A-Family, the Action Resource Center, local Boy Scouts, Genesis Development, Habitat For Humanity, Early Learning Center, library youth programs, youth mentoring programs, little league, Reading Is Fundamental program and scholarship for graduating seniors.
One new fundraiser was the silent auction which brought in over $3,000 for the Kiwanis to use in various other projects throughout the year.
