One person died following a single-vehicle wreck Sunday in Dallas County.

According to Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinka, Iowa State Troopers, along with deputies from the Dallas and Polk County sheriff’s offices responded to a call of a vehicle on fire on W Avenue near Highway 44, between Dallas Center and Grimes, at 11:59 p.m. The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on W Avenue at a high rate of speed when it vaulted over Highway 44. When the vehicle returned to the road, the driver lost control and it left the roadway and entered the west ditch, crashing into a tree and caught fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver has not yet been released. The Grimes Fire Department also responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
