Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says his department had a quiet weekend this past Saturday and Sunday despite the multiple inches of snow that hit central Iowa overnight.
Arganbright says there were a few cars that ended up in roadside ditches, but no serious accidents with injuries occurred, and he’s happy with how local residents have adjusted to the winter road conditions over the past couple weeks, and he cites one adjustment in particular.
“The biggest factor is speed. If people would slow down, if it gets snowing or the ice on the roads gets built up… slow down. That’s the most important factor in driving.”
Arganbright reminds residents that his department will be out in greater numbers during the New Years holiday to strictly enforce drunk driving penalties and keep citizens safe as a result.
Arganbright adds that he hopes everybody has a great Christmas with family and a happy New Years, and he appreciates everything the public continues to do in providing his department with information so that he and his deputies can keep residents as safe as possible.
