Forty-two students received gifts through the Winter Wonderland giving tree at the elementary school this year and many families received important home items like towels and dishes.
Talented and Gifted students raised more than $875 over the last few weeks which was used to purchase basic necessities for families and winter shoes and accessories for students in need.
Fifty elementary students received coats this season thanks to nations from the Perry and Adel communities, 500 items were donated to the food pantry thanks to the music department and $1,500 was raised from staff who purchased the opportunity to wear jeans to school. That money will be used after the holiday to benefit students.
At the middle school, $600 was raised from staff jean days which was used to buy laundry detergent, soap, shampoo and toilet paper for local families and purchase shoes, winter boots and new glasses for other students in need.
Their giving tree was able to serve 29 students, up seven from last year and eleven 6th grade students were able to participate in Shop with a Cop thanks to nominations from school staff.
