The ADM wrestling team is still about a week and a half way from returning to the mats for head-to-head competition, so let’s break down how some top individual wrestlers have performed to this point in the season.
We’ve heard head coach Justin Schmauss discuss many times this season the importance of his wrestlers focusing on themselves and their own personal performances as they enter meets, and five guys jump out in particular as having done just that.
Junior Trevor Harsh has been consistently solid for the Tigers to this point, as he boasts an impressive 11-4 individual record at 138 pounds. Six of his wins have come via pins.
At 152 pounds, sophomore Zach Johnston is 11-4 on the season, with four of his wins coming via pins.
Young freshman Cole Bennett is 9-6 so far at 170 pounds. Three of his wins have come via the pin.
Then you look to Hunter Gibson at 195 pounds, where the sophomore is 10-3 on the season with three of those wins by pins.
Most impressive on the young season though for ADM has been sophomore Nathan Heath. Heath has a 10-4 record, but all 10 of his victories have come via the pin. Heath had actually been on an eight-match winning streak before falling in his final dual at the Battle of Waterloo tournament a couple weekends ago.
Opponent forfeits were not included in the calculations of ADM wrestlers’ individual performances.
