Greene County and Atlantic meet on the Trojanns home court tomorrow to open Class 3A Region 1 girls’ basketball. Due to projected cold weather, the start time has been moved up two hours to 5 p.m.
Atlantic, a Hawkeye 10 Conference member is 8-13, while Greene County, a member of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, has a 6-12 record.
Coach Todd Gordon’s Rams average 30 points per game and are led in scoring by junior Brianna Habben at 10.6 points and more than nine rebounds per game.
Atlantic averages 58 points per game and their leading scorer is senior Haley Rasmussen, a guard who averages nearly 21 points per contest. The teams don’t normally play each other in girls’ sports, but have meet on rare occasions in the postseason in volleyball and softball prior to this.
