One of the bills that the Iowa House of Representatives passed gave parents the ability to slowly wean off of child care assistance and accept job promotions.
Iowa House of Representatives District 20’s Representative Ray Sorensen details a few other measures the House passed to increase child care accessibility and quality.
“Another bill allows individuals providing child care in their homes to take care of six or fewer children, an increase from five or fewer. The second bill creates an incentive for employers to provide child care for their employees by providing a tax credit of up to $150,000. The next bill raises Iowa’s child care rates to the 50th percentile according to the market rate survey.”
Sorensen adds the House has passed six bills in total so far this session relating to child care. He hopes if implemented, the measures will have a ripple effect on economic growth in the state.
