Greene County head football coach Caden Duncan told Raccoon Valley Radio he likes the district the Rams were placed in for the 2021 and ’22 seasons. Greene County returns to Class 2A District 8, along with Clarinda, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Des Moines Christian, and newcomer Clarke (Osceola). Clarke moves into District 8 replacing 2020 champion Atlantic, who moved up a class to 3A.
The Rams were 7-3 last year and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2A playoffs. DMC was 4-3, Clarinda 4-5, Shenandoah 3-5, Clarke 1-7, and Red Oak 0-8.
Coach Duncan added, “Overall, I think it’s a good district for us. We’re definitely going to be traveling a little bit again, but we’re used to that, so nothing new there. It’s a district we can expect to compete in, and hopefully, really competing for that district championship.”
Class 2A football programs will have eight regular season games and 32 of the 48 teams in the class will qualify for the playoffs. There will be three non-district games and those will be determined by the IHSAA after schools submit priority lists of teams they would like to play.
