The annual Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) auction sale, which is slated to take place in April, was recently moved back to Iowa and one state senator played a role in making that happen.

The sale, which was originally scheduled to take place in Omaha, Nebraska was recently moved to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. District 10 Senator Jake Chapman says he reached out to the DNR and asked why the sale was taking place out of state.

“I reached out to the DNR and asked (what was the) rationale and who was making these decisions and was notified the next morning that after careful reconsideration they were going to move the sale back into Iowa. So, I am very pleased that they chose to do that but again still disappointed that this was even an issue to begin with.”

The sale, which Chapman says is of confiscated firearms, is scheduled to take place in Iowa at 9 a.m. April 10th. Chapman says the sale being back in Iowa will allow for more of these sales to stay in Iowa.
