It’s the final couple of days to get in on the early bird price for a new bicycling event in Greene County next week.

Pre-register by tomorrow for $25 to participate in the 36.5-mile Bike Ride Around Greene County. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Events Team Chair Philip Heisterkamp says there will be five stops along the route on Saturday, May 8th, with bikers to begin at the Welcome Center in Jefferson, along with stops at Lakeside National Golf Club, 209 Main in Paton, a break in Dana, the 30 Yard Line in Grand Junction and the ride will end at Doc’s Stadium in Jefferson.

Heisterkamp points out the newest addition to the event is a poker run.

“Each of our five stops there will be a deck of cards, in which you’ll pick one car per stop to make at the end of the ride, a hand of five cards. The highest hand will win a Yeti cooler, which those are supposed to be super high quality. So we’re excited to be able to provide one of those.”

Heisterkamp says they will have other prizes for second and third place. He notes the average ride time for the event will be between 4-6 hours. If you pre-register by tomorrow for $25, you will receive a t-shirt. The cost then goes up to $35 with no t-shirt. Contact the Welcome Center or Heisterkamp to sign up.
