Danielle Hoyle was first in the discus throw and second in the shot put at Monday’s Rolling Valley Activities Conference Coed Track & Field Meet at Woodbine. Although a senior, she hadn’t thrown competitively since junior high, and the 6′ 3″ all-around athlete is making the best of her final go-round in high school.
Hoyle threw a season best 118′ 5″ to handily win the conference discus throw. According to statistics website Varsity Bound, that’s the best throw this season for an Iowa high school girl in Class 1A. She was second in the shot put at 37′ 10-1/2″ on Monday, but her best this season of 40′ 2″ is fourth best in 1A, according to Varsity Bound.

On the boys’ side, the best finish for the Rockets came from senior Forest Thompson, third in the 1,600 meter run in 5:28.80.

The P-C girls were eighth among nine teams with 20 points, while the boys were ninth with 11 points.
