The Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees have announced stopping a multi-million dollar project.
The Board decided at their meeting Thursday to table moving forward with the Ever Greene Ridge: A Continuum of Care Community project. Director of Foundation and Community Relations Nancy Houska says the decision was made due to increased costs of construction, continued uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic and the Board wanted to focus on providing current services for the medical center’s long term care patients.
When the $16-20 million project was first announced last fall, the goal was to combine long term care while also providing services for independent and assisted living, along with memory care and skilled nursing. An independent board was also established and Houska says that the separate board hasn’t disbanded, but they will no longer meet at this time, and no money had been raised toward the project.
The medical center leadership team and the Board of Trustees continue to monitor the situation and will decide when to continue discussions about the project. However, they will also continue to provide long term care services and pursue new residents without any interruption in services.
