Dallas Center – Grimes baseball has been competitive in so many of their games these season against top tier competition, and broke through against a top tier 4A school in Norwalk, winning by the score of 4-3. The Mustangs move to .500 on the season at 11-11, and Norwalk picks up only their second loss of the season and sits at 23-2.
The Mustangs were trailing 2-0 going into the fifth inning as they were able to score four runs in the frame and pick up a huge victory in the process. Norwalk threatened in both the sixth and seventh innings but couldn’t grab anymore than one run and clawed their way to their best victory of the season to date.
After losing two close games in a doubleheader earlier this season, the Mustangs were finally able to break through, as they they’ve continued to build positive momentum into the final weeks of their regular season.
For DCG, they will be taking on more difficult competition tonight, when they take on the defending state 4A state champion Johnston in Grimes.
