After dropping 3-0 and 6-2 high school softball games to Saydel High School during the regular season, the Greene County Rams are hoping the third time is a charm. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team goes to Saydel tomorrow to begin the postseason in a 7 p.m. Class 3A Region 4 first round game against a team that not only is 2-0 against the Rams this season, but won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title. The Eagles are 25-6 while the Rams are 6-15. Tuesday’s softball can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams won their regular season finale on Friday night in eight innings at Ogden by a 10-4 final. The Bulldogs tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh by scoring three runs, but the Rams answered with six runs of their own in the top of the eighth for the victory.

Tuesday’s winner goes to Williamsburg to face either Williamsburg or Nevada in a Region 4 semifinal on July 9. The other half of the Region 4 bracket includes Roland-Story (Story City), Southeast Valley (Gowrie), Iowa Falls-Alden, and Humboldt.
